AIZEN DO (RAGARAJA HALL)

Initially this hall was Konoe-ko Mandokoro Goten in the Kyoto Imperial Palace. It was relocated to Saidaiji in 1762. Size of this building is 11ken (20.02m) from south to north and 8ken (14.56m) from east to west. Its architectural style is called Shinden-zukuri (Style of court noble’s house). Inside of the Hall is divided in three compartments. In the altar of the central sanctum the principal image Aizen Myo-o (Seated Statue of Ragaraja) is enshrined. The southern room houses the mortuary tablets of chief priests of this temple. The northern room was used for official audience with guests.
