ASHUKU, HOSHO, MIDA, SHAKA NYORAI ZAZO (AKSHOBHYA, RATNASAMBHAVA, AMITABHA, & SEATED STATUE OF SAKYAMUNI)

Comments
These four statues were made by the method of Mokushin Kansitsu Zukuri, meaning the wood-core dry lacquer technique. Originally they were enshrined in four directions surrounding a pagoda of the temple. They are precious examples representing a trend specific to the sculptures of the late Nara period.
