Aizu Yaichi is a famous Japanese “waka” poet (1881-1956) and was a Professor Emeritus of Waseda University. He deeply loved temples of Nara and their surrounding scenery, composing many "waka" poems “ in Nara. Inscribed on this stone monument is one of them which he wrote in 1921 when visiting Kairyuoji.
