MONJU BOSATSU ZO (STATUE OF MANJUSRI)

Comments
This statue was made in the Kamakura period in the trend of Manjusri worship which was a characteristic of the Shingon-Ritsu school in those days. Every portion of the figure was made smaller, corresponding to its small head, and its shape is natural. Harmony and delicate nuance, a style specific to arts of the Kamakura period, is well expressed.
