AMIDA NYORAI RYUZO (STANDING STATUE OF AMITABHA)

Comments
It is thought that this statue was originally the principal image of the Amida Nyorai Do Hall which was burnt down by the fire during the attack by Matsunaga Hisahide in the Sengoku period. Fortunately the statue survived though the portion of its head was destroyed. It is standing on the lotus-flower-shaped seat. Portion of the left hand and a toe are missing. This statue was made by the method of Ichiboku-Zukuri from a single piece of wood.
