SAISHO ROJIN ZO NO TEKUBI OYOBI UDENNO NO TACHI (WRIST OF THE STATUE OF SAISHO ROJIN & SWORD CARRIED BY UDENNO)

Comments
In the Kamakura period Eison Shonin (Saint Eison) made offerings to Monju Bosatsu (Manjusri). It was a tall statue (4.86m in height). Monju Bosatsu was riding on a lion and was accompanied by two attendants, Saisho Rojin and Udenno. During the attack by Matsunaga Hisahide in the Sengoku period, this statue of Manjusri was burnt down by the war fire, but a wrist of Saisho Rojin and a Udenno’s sword could narrowly survive to date.
