NISHI KONDO (WEST MAIN HALL)

Comments
Nishi Kondo (West Main Hall) is a building existing since the temple’s foundation. Although extensive repair was carried out twice in the Kamakura and Showa periods, timbers of the Nara period still partially remain. Except for this building, no other small-size halls constructed in the Nara period remain today, so it is an important cultural heritage.
