ROMON (TWO STORIED GATE)

A gate at the entrance of the corridor which is one of the temple’s buildings reconstructed in the Kamakura period. Its architectural style is a blend of Wayo (Japanese style) and Tenjiku-Yoshiki (Sindhu Buddhist architecture), with a beautifully curved roof. The oldest work of Romon (Two Storied Gate) remaining in Japan and a National Treasure.
