KOMA INU (GUARDIAN DOG MADE OF CERAMIC)

This guardian dog shows a shape of “Ungyo” (Closed mouth). It is one of a pair of the ceramic dogs placed at the shrine called Chinju-sha (for Kasuga Shrine, Ise Shrine, and Hachiman Shrine) which is located on the Hannyaji Temple’s grounds and is dedicated to the tutelary deity of the area.
