According to Nihonshoki (The Chronicles of Japan), Empress Jingu was the consort of her predecessor, Emperor Chuai, and was the mother of her successor, Emperor Ojin. She is known as a brave heroine. Depicted on this tablet is her figure in armor taking command on a ship. The bow and arrow handed down to this temple are said to have been owned by her.
